One of the incredible places in the world to witness first hand ‘human cousins’ is in Uganda. This is among the few places in the universe where you can come face to face with mountain gorillas within their natural habitat. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park are home to these majestic animals. No one should lie to you, nothing in the world can prepare you for the feeling and experience of trekking through the jungle and coming face to face with a gorilla family? I can tell you Nothing! For the lovers of mountains Uganda has many stunning views with many outdoor adventure opportunities. For example Rwenzori Mountains known as “Mountains of the Moon,” is located in western Uganda along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. The highest peak is Margherita Peak, which stands at 5,109 meters (16,763 feet).  Mount Elgon  is Located on the eastern border of Uganda with Kenya, Mount Elgon is an extinct volcano with the largest surface area of any extinct volcano in the world. The highest peak is Wagagai, which stands at 4,321 meters (14,177 feet).  Mount Moroto – Located in northeastern Uganda is part of the Karamoja region and is the highest mountain in the area.  Mount Sabinyo – Located on the border of Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, This is part of the Virunga Mountains. The mountain has three peaks and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The mountains are known for their unique flora and fauna, including several endemic species.

Bird watching – With over 1,000 species of birds, Uganda is a bird watcher’s paradise. The country has several birding hotspots, including Queen Elizabeth National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, and the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Another hidden gem is Lake Bunyonyi, which is known as the “Switzerland of Africa” due to its stunning scenery of rolling hills and crystal clear waters. Visitors can go kayaking or take a boat ride to explore the various islands in the lake.

Waterfalls – Uganda has several stunning waterfalls, including the Murchison Falls, Sipi Falls, and Itanda Falls. These natural wonders are a sight to behold and make for great photo opportunities.

Rafting – Uganda is known for its adrenaline-packed white water rafting on the Nile River. The rapids range from class 3 to 5, providing a thrilling experience for both beginners and experienced rafters.

The home to the big five game animals (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino) is in Uganda and several other species, such as giraffes, zebras, and hyenas. You can witness this amazing game reserves through the game drives in the national parks are a great way to see these animals in their natural habitats. Heritage sites to explore

World Heritage sites-This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the burial ground for four kings of the Buganda kingdom. Kasubi site is a prime example of traditional architecture and offers insight into the country’s cultural heritage.

Fort Jesus – Located in Jinja, Fort Jesus was built by the British in the 1890s to defend the country against German attacks. The fort offers a glimpse into Uganda’s colonial past and the struggles for independence.

Oh did I tell you about Nyero Rock Paintings a historical site that will give you a glimpse of the ancient rock paintings, located in Kumi district, dated back to the early Iron Age and offer a glimpse into Uganda’s pre-colonial history.

Talking about food, the pearl has the best and sweetest fruits, vegetables, and food cuisines that are mouth watering. In fact if you want to taste the fruits of Eden, visit Uganda. Try our local Try local cuisine dishes including matoke (cooked plantains), posho (maize meal), and Akalo (millet meal) with mouth-watering sauces and spices. Don’t forget these cuisines differ from tribe to tribe and Uganda is home to 50 tribes with their own unique customs and traditions. When you visit a traditional village is a great way to learn about the country’s diverse cultures and way of life.
