The next day Theresa surprised herself by showing up at the damn office before 8am, and off course, the damn ‘man’ hadn’t yet arrived. Her work place was becoming less strange as she adjusted.

Her morning solitude allowed her to reflect and question her presence in this place that seemed forsaken.

“I have a lot of cleaning to do,” she reprimanded herself, refusing to focus on that thought. Theresa knew she would have to recreate this place if she was going to live in a resemblance of sanity called office.

She quickly went to the supermarket and bought all the needed cleaning items that would make the place habitable and manageable for as long as she was part of it, she amused herself.

The office looked pristine and spackled by noon, and was tidy and habitable. As a result, Theresa felt satisfied and this amused her. I am thinking of sticking around!

As she sat down, she was exhausted. Her heart jumped as a door opened and the man entered like a ghost was chasing him. He slummed in a chair on the phone while his clothes were untidy and stained with fresh food that must have been his breakfast.

Theresa wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry. She wondered how much drama she could handle. In the meantime, the man continued to talk without noticing her presence. After more than an hour on the phone shouting and disagreeing with the other person on phone, the man suddenly stopped talking and was now looking very angry.

Suddenly he noticed Theresa around and he said, go get me mobile money, I think my airtime is finished I need to load again. Theresa remained standing waiting for the next set of instructions and the obvious money.

He realized she was not moving an inch and maybe he realized she was not moving an inch, he suddenly bust out can’t you use your money and I pay latter. Theresa was not in the mood of being intimidated she just stood still staring at the man Saying nothing.

He must have realized this was not going to end well, he touched in his pocket and extended the cash to Theresa. She went without greeting or saying a word deposited the money on his mobile number and on returned to an empty office, the man had vanished just like that. He never returned that day.

Theresa was busy in her thoughts when a knock reminded her, she was in office, yes come in, she called out loudly.

A gentleman walked in and asked for a name she had never heard of, he continued to explain the person and Alas, it was the man oh her boss! What a world she laughed sheepishly. He noticed her funny laugh but chose to ignore.

Please have a sit, he came in for a few minutes and left probably he could come back later. She said.

The young man sat and staring at his phone as time passed until he got tired and excused himself as he left. He left an angry man and Theresa realized maybe she was not alone in being displeased by this man. Her boss… she laughed.

The day ended without any trace of her boss and so did the rest of the week. He didn’t even bother calling and so did she.
